CACFP, a federal nutrition program, promotes high-quality, affordable child care by helping providers to serve nutritious meals and snacks. It provides reimbursement for food, meal preparation, training and administrative costs. Through CACFP, more than 3 million children nationally receive nutritious meals and a snack each work day as part of the day care they receive. CACFP benefits the children in our care and helps us provide the nutrition that children need to grow. Children in participating institutions have higher intakes of key nutrients and fewer servings of fats and sweets than children in non-participating care.
